MINING ENGINEER - OMAN
Latomia Pharmakas Group is seeking to recruit an experienced professional for the position of Mining Engineer, to be based in OMAN. The Group operates a quarry in Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZAD) in OMAN.
THE POSITION
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
• Conduct preliminary surveys and studies of ore deposits to assess the economic and environmental feasibility of potential mining operations
• Determine and advise on appropriate drilling and blasting methods for mining
• Planning of quarry production activities to support plant production including optimization, quality, productivity, budgeting, cost control, volumetric calculations
• Function as a leader by demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely and ensuring that the quarry continues to eliminate work related risks by increased use of hazard recognition techniques
• Function as a strong advocate in promoting a working environment for all employees
• Promote continuous improvement in quality to meet or exceed targets
• Provide training for quarry operators and technicians
• Work with Maintenance and Purchasing departments to provide engineering expertise, and improve cost optimization
• Provide leadership in cross functional team activities
• Supervise and co-ordinate the work of technicians
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related degree
• Minimum 3 years work experience in mining operations
• Has thorough understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards associated with quarry engineering
• Full knowledge of industry practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Resolves problems by analyzing information, identifying and evaluating optional courses of action, contributes to the development of techniques in the operational context of a quarry
• IT literate and proficient in all relevant software
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Self-starting and able to work with minimum supervision with solid decision-making abilities
• Ability to interact and support other departments and participate professionally and effectively in meetings
• Ability to effectively plan quarry activities
• Previous Middle East experience will be considered as advantage
